Koine Bible Society

The Septuagint is the Old Testament the Apostles quoted and the Old Testament of the early Church. Hundreds of its readings are now corroborated by the Dead Sea Scrolls. Yet no complete English Bible has ever been translated from it as its Old Testament base.

Koine Bible Society exists to close that gap. The Society is a Colorado nonprofit corporation organized to produce, publish, and distribute a new English translation of the Holy Scriptures, with the Old Testament translated from the Greek Septuagint in its modern critical editions and the New Testament translated fresh from Greek critical editions, for religious, liturgical, educational, and devotional use.

The work is scholarly before it is anything else. Translation decisions will rest with an independent Translation Oversight Committee of senior scholars in Septuagint studies, Greek and Hebrew philology, textual criticism, and English style, whose judgments the governing board cannot override. The project begins with pilot translations of Esther and Job, the two books where the Greek and Hebrew traditions diverge most instructively, before proceeding to the full corpus over a projected ten to twelve years.
